Why I Blog....

Originally, I started my blog because I thought I was funny.
(still do.)
I also felt like I had stories and experiences to which people could relate.
Originally, there was no focused or real reason.

When we moved to Nebraska and now Michigan I blogged for our extended families.
We live far, far away from them.
We miss them.
I know they miss us.
So, I would blog to keep them up to date.

Also, in the past I have LOVED getting caught up or staying caught with old and new friends.

Sometimes I would get bitter that they weren't blogging (or commenting)...so why should I?

I wanted to keep up with them.
I wanted to laugh at their fun pictures.
I wanted to cry over their hardships or frustrations.
And I wanted some feedback...mostly on how cute my kids are, how awesome my husband is and how totally hilarious I am!

I also used to blog because, again, I think I'm so funny....
and I have superior opinions...
and, again, I have stories that others can relate to...
and I like to try new things...sometimes...
etc.

Well, I still think all that and I will still blog about those things.

But, I'm going to try to blog for our little family.
I love that I have this record of our family.
And barring a total web meltdown, where all blogs are lost into a cyber black hole, this is a permanent record with pictures!

Where else do I have anything close to this kind of a record?
Nowhere!
Sure there are holes.
But, maybe there will be less if my focus is on my little family instead of focusing on all the other stuff.
The other things still matter (extended family, for sure; comments, will always be welcome), I just think if my focus changes, I will be more consistent and the other aspects will just take care of themselves.

My goal is once a week...at least!

Why do you blog?
If you used...why have you stopped?
No judgments...just wondering if I can relate and for sure I could probably learn something from you about how to have better intentions or a better focus....not sure with which I am struggling.

Thanks exactly why I do it- it's our family's journal! I intend to make books by year or 5 year increments. I plan to pull from the blog for all the pictures. Haven't started yet, but plan to someday. So just in case of that total web melt down and that cyber black hole you were talking about, we have easy access to a book we can pull off the shelf and look at :) Or just so the kids can pull it down easily or we're too lazy to turn on the computer :)

One other reason I want to continue to blog and blog consistently is because when I do I take more pictures of my little chickadees. When I don't...I don't really take pictures. I don't know why...lazy. That's why...stop being so lazy Becky! Gosh!

I love that you think you are funny because you are!!!! I love you!!!

I blog for the reason you want to try to blog more. I like it for a record. Period. It's like you said, I have thousands of pictures and it's a great way to put words to pictures or vice/versa. For instance I just wrote a post on our goals for 2014. And I was able to compare it with our goals from 2013 because I blogged it last year!!! I think blogging is the greatest.

I can relate to the comments thing. But, I realize everyone is busy. I am busy. I really try and comment as much as I can especially to people like you who I really love. I'm so glad you will try to blog more. I really love reading your words and I would love to see more pictures of your darlings. :) What kind of baby are you having??

Can't wait for more...

It was so fun howling at the moon with Marly and Sam and Lola. Too bad you could not see the moon. Next time that happens we need to skype so Marly can see the moon too. It is easier to howl when you have something to howl about. Love you

Haha loved it! You are funny, your children ate beautiful and fun just like you and what wad it ....oh your husband is amazing. :) but seriously you 're awesome and all those things are true.
I used to blog as kind of a c file for things that I did, wanted to try, things I loved and for support from others...similar to your desire for comments. Then pinterest came about and took care of half of things I blogged about and made it easier. And no one comments much anymore...which makes you think no one cares but they do. We just need a "like button" like we do on fb.
And sorry for the random pic of you it was the only one I too at that age...but I do love that pic.

I can relate to this too! I read so many less blogs than I used to - mostly just family and friends now (and nie nie cause everyone reads nie nie :) ). And I'm sure everyone is doing the same and probably a huge reason why there are less readers/comments on my blog. But it's important to remind myself that's not why I blog in the first place - I blog for me and for my family! It really is so awesome to have a record! And my kids love looking at the blog and love looking at their pictures and the things I write about them. So, I try to keep going!

I love reading your blog - and I also think you are hilarious! And I love seeing pictures of your cute kids and seeing them grow up!
