The office/craft/guestroom room is Marley's "work." She goes there at least once a day. She uses her scissors to cut up one piece of scratch paper (which we have a lot of from grad school). She always cuts the paper into churches and temples.
She has a different baby everyday....Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh, Funshine Carebear, a little white rabbit, one of two tigers white or orange or any one of her other bazillion stuffed animals or dolls. Everyday whatever that baby is she says in a fake sad voice with brows furrowed, "I have to take my baby to the hospital."
Marley is into making up names. The best so far....Francea (which is similar to my alter ego name Frances, but Marley doesn't know that and I guess I shouldn't be publishing it online...); Danika, and Zilnea. There are more but those are the ones that have stuck out to me.
Marley calls our backyard her garden:
"Mom! There is a dog in my garden!"
"No there isn't?"
"Oh."
"Mom? Can I go out in my garden?"
"Sure, put your coat and socks and shoes on."
"Mom? Can we eat dinner in my garden?"
"Not until it gets much warmer outside, maybe in a couple of weeks."
"Maybe to-mo-rrow we can have lunch in my garden?"
Me laugh, "No, maybe in a couple of weeks...in a little bit of a long time...not tomorrow."
"OH OK! I love to eat in my garden!"
The day we unpacked the truck Marley was sitting on a box and making the trundle of our old sewing machine go and in her fake sad voice she said to nobody, "My mother is dead." She didn't know I was watching or listening so when I laughed and said, "What did you say?" She got a big smile and a red face and said, "Oh, I just said, I can't find my socks!" Looks at her feet and then says, "OH! There they are!"
She HATES to get into the car seat. Loves to be in the car but HATES the car seat....no wonder after how much time she had to spend in it just driving to Mish. She gets right into the car, bypasses the car seat and heads for the front seat. When I tell her that we can't go until she is safely in her car seat her most common excuse is, "Not right now, I'm busy." (I wonder where she got that excuse from?)
A couple of days after we moved here Marley wanted to play school but I was unpacking the kitchen (busy). So she improvised and just called me TEACHER -- ALL DAY.
"Hi Teacher!"
"Bye. Teacher."
"Teacher? Can you watch my baby?"
"Teacher! Don't touch my baby!"
"Teacher? What is for lunch?"
"Teacher, I don't need to take a nap."
TEACHER TEACHER TEACHER TEACHER TEACHER TEACHER TEACHER TEACHER TEACHER
Since that day I have had the title of
FRIEND
DOCTOR
and
KING!!!
Yes one morning I was KING!
I kept requesting to be the QUEEN but those requests were shunned by the PRINCESS and she soon abandoned the whole royalty theme and went back to TEACHER.
Today I am DOCTOR.
Excuse me my, FRIEND just brought her baby to the hospital I have to do an emergency check up. But please remember that we are never too busy to have our FRIENDS over to have lunch or dinner in the garden....and the office/craft room/"work" easily converts to a guestroom.
