I'm blogging before conference as apposed to after conference, when I would have to make comments on the talks I enjoyed and especially touched me. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I couldn't or won't post about conference after the fact but, if I don't...
I love Conference. I am totally looking forward to direction and council from the General Authorities and other officers of the church! I feel so blessed to have the knowledge of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ! And I'm especially grateful for the knowledge of living prophets! What a blessing! One more day!!!
I have a few random things to share...
We finally went to the public library and got library cards! I think I mentioned in a past post that the Bethany library looked disappointing and small from the outside. So, we didn't go there! We went to the Gere Library. Nathan calls it the Richard Gere Library, though it is named after some other Gere, Charles I think it was. Anyway, we went yesterday and we found that our cards are good at ANY of the 10 city libraries. We found that you can return the items you check out to ANY of the city libraries, not just the one you checked them out from. We found that they have an inter-library loan system where if your closest library doesn't have the book you want, they will request it from one that does and deliver it to your closest library! And it seems that the motto of the city libraries is One Book One Lincoln and the Lincoln Journal Star publishes a review on the book of the month. Basically, it's a city book club. They even provide discussion questions.
The book they featured for September was The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield and I just read that!!! My sister Julie had recommended it to me and I ordered it off of amazon because she seemed to like it so much, plus I found it very cheap. It is a very good mystery/ghost/family scandal book. I really enjoyed it. It sort of has a twist to it and I didn't even see it coming so I'm excited to read it again in the near future...knowing what I know now.
Back to the library. Since, we have no TV not even local channels I just get a hankering to watch sometimes. So, I looked through the libraries DVD collection. It was mostly educational, instruction, biography, documentary and history DVD's but, I didn't care. I checked out the maximum I could check out. Actually, the max is 10 and I had thought it was 15 so, I selected 12, only to find out at checkout that 10 was the limit. I should have had Nathan check the other two out for me...but, there will be other trips to the library.
One of the DVD's I checked out was called WordPlay and it's a documentary about Will Shortz the crossword puzzle writer for the New York Times. It also follows a crossword puzzle competition. Ya, they hold competitions and people do them super fast! Will Shortz started the competition 48 years ago! Nathan really enjoys crosswords so, that's why I got it. He said it sounded boring, but we watched it and it was really good! I highly recommend it!
Another DVD I got is The Nazi Officer's Wife. I watched it today. It was very good. It's a documentary about a woman that survived the holocaust by changing her identity. I always find it amazing how people adapt and somehow find ways to survive the horrors of war.
I may blog about the other DVD's but, we'll see. Now we are going to meet Nathan on campus. Marley is begging for a ride in her bike trailer.

You are so cute! I love hearing what you have to say about your life, its always so interesting to me. :) That's great about the library, your lucky to have such a good one-and others considering the library loan.
Hey that's our library (Gere) and I was there yesterday too! Although I asked the lady that works there, and she says that it's the "year" library. Well that's how she pronounced it. Weird. Now that you mentioned again how great The Thirteenth Tale is, I can't wait to get back to reading it! I started it the other day, but I've been distracted since. So are you guys going to a friends or to the church for General Conference? I wish we had it on our t.v. JJ and I are use to watching it on the net though. Anyway, sounds like you are doing great. Can't wait to get together again.
Payson has a lame library as well. I've never even asked them about intralibrary loan, but I should. I get irritated that it is so small! Plus, every single time I check out books I end up with a nasty late fee. Julie suggested having a certain day every week to go, so that the books make it back in time. Good suggestion, now I need a CAR!
Your birthday bash sounded great, spread out over a few days just the way I like it! :)
Love the library! San Jose has a great system with requests etc. Very nice. We get online renewal and requesting now too. Very, very nice. You can even pay your fines online! But then they show up on your credit card bill and...well...that's not such a happy thing. Check your DVD return date, it may be different from the books. San Jose only gives us a week with DVDs - but three weeks for books. I like to check out DVDs too. I've seen the Crossword Puzzle one, or something like it - was so interesting! I saw it on TV though, maybe PBS? Happy librarying - and do visit your little one - they need to boost their numbers - get more people there and then the little one will grow.
I love conference too!
Becky! I love conference too! It sounds like things are going great for you and your family! I am going to be having my baby this week. Check out our blog mckellandjaneene.blogspot.com. We need to catch up soon!
I watched Wordplay about a year ago. I liked it. It made me want to get a People magazine so I could feel smart by completing the Puzzler.
You do know that you can go to the network websites and watch just about everything showed on their channel just the day after it airs. I know I am tempting you to add bad things to your life, but I also know that when babies take a nap, it is nice to have something to watch. or even to have a 30 min show to watch while doing the dishes to make the time fly by faster.
