My Favorite Christmas Memory

Julie suggested I blog about this topic and it's a great idea but I'll be honest, I have a very unpredictable memory. I may blog about how finiacky it is, one day (I'll probably forget to) but, I wanted to mention it now because I can't remember specific Christmas' outside of seeing me in pictures with certain toys. Is that weird?

I do have memorable holiday moments from my Jr.High/High School years. Here is one:

This was before our youth choir started singing up that Oakland Temple Visitor Center. We were at my Grandparents (mom's parents) home in Pleasanton and our whole family was there. My mom told my grandparents that her girls had a song to sing. I think the family thought it was just going to be a fun/silly Christmas song but it was a song called "Come, Jesus, Holy Son of God" and it's by Handel. We sang it in harmony and at one point in the song we are all singing different parts, sort of like a round. It is a beautiful song and our family reacted as such. We got an "Encore! Encore!" And my grandma got the video camera out for the instant replay and they made us move up onto the staircase, over looking the living room. It was cool to have our family make such a big deal about it.

I remember frosting cookies at my Aunt Nancy's a couple years. I always thought that was fun because, duh! frosting cookies! And being with my cousins is always fun.

Ok...I'm fresh out of memories...

Here's a fresh new memory, I will try to charish for as long as my crazy brain will let me.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!! I busted out laughing outloud. Hil-freakin'-arious! Was he stroking her head? I can see that making things worse. For example -- if a bearded man scares ME and starts to stroke MY head, he is going DOOWWWNNN!

I love the pictures. I'll have to tell you a funny Santa story later.

I don't have a blog, but remember when Dad was cutting Christmas trees in West Yellowstone for the scout fund raiser. There was one tree left and the Alger's didn't have one yet. So we took that one. It was too big for the house so Dad cut the top off and moved it into the house and it went from floor to sealing. It looked like the tree was growing through the roof. That is one of my memories.

I've probably reminded you all of this sometime, but I remember staying at your home one night before going home for Christmas. You all were taking me to the airport the next day. I think it was my freshman year - so that would be Dec. 81 - and you were getting ready to go up to West Yellowstone for the holiday. Your parents made special arrangements to have Santa come to your house before you left, and he came that evening. I think he drove a big long red Lincoln type car. It was like a party in the house - chips and dips and soda and all kinds of excitement. You girls didn't know Santa was coming. And then there was a heavy knock on the door - with jingling of bells. There may have been a ho ho ho - whatever it was - it scared you all! And Liz wouldn't open the door. And your parents tried to get one of you to open it - I don't remember if Liz did but finally Santa got in and he had a bag FULL of toys for you girls! Becky you were just a peanut - if it was Dec. 81 how old were you? 2? 3? That is a very fun memory for me.

Mom, I do vaguely remember that. Our dad truly is the Christmas tree hero.

Kathy - that's a great memory and sounds very funny to witness. I was just 2 Dec. 81. Wow! It's weird to think that I used to be a baby.

We think that is funny and sad at the same time. Hilarious. By the way, I sent you an email about pics of her with Santa before I checked your blog so just disregard that email.
Kathy - I totally remember that. I wasn't sure if it was a true memory, because it doesn't seem like something my parents would do and I couldn't figure out why they would.

Sam says, "Helarious". He acctually laughed his head off. I never seen anybody do that in my life.

WHY IS SHE HOLDING A CAT? THAT'S PROBABLY WHY SHE'S CRYING! THE TEARS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SANTA!
